Answers to the usual questions.
No. Press2P plays games you own: copy them from your own collection into its ROMs folder. It never downloads or shares games, and online only your button presses travel between players.
Mega Drive / Genesis, Master System, Game Gear, SG-1000, SNES and PlayStation. PlayStation discs work as .cue with their .bin files, .chd, .pbp or .m3u for multi-disc games. Mega-CD and 32X aren't supported yet.
To play, yes: everyone in a room needs the same version of the game, which Press2P checks for you. To watch, no: anyone can watch a match as live video.
Press2P uses rollback netcode, the same idea modern fighting games use. Your own presses take effect straight away, and when your friend's arrive the game rewinds a few frames and replays them, usually before you could notice.
They run best with the BIOS from your own console, copied into Documents\Press2P\BIOS. Without one, Press2P uses OpenBIOS, a free replacement that starts most games.
A Windows 10 or 11 PC (64-bit) with a graphics card that supports OpenGL 3.3, which is almost any from the last ten years. A controller is recommended but the keyboard works too.
Windows only for now.
